I've been living with a suicidal mind since my late teens. I gained understanding of why over the years. It wasn't until my 50's did I gain the understanding, insight and will to do the work and make the changes need to live a happier and healthier life.
I was introduced to suicide when my mother, who had several attempts in her life, attempted while I was home at age 12. Two years later, my friend who lived across the street, died by suicide. She was 15.
My life has been spent working with people of all ages with behavioral health issues. I've also worked with people with disabilities such as Autism and Down Syndrome. I've worked in a crisis role, social work, inpatient, and outpatient. I mention this because I want you to know that a person can have a degree in psychology and work in that field for decades, and still not be able to help themselves. We are all very good at being hard on ourselves. All I want to do is pass on what I've learned. Everyone is different. It won't resonate with everyone and that's ok. But if even one part of it does, It's well worth the time I'm putting into this. That is me in the picture. Taken in 2025 in the beautiful upper peninsula of Michigan in the USA.
